Sabas' takes over Zalgaris!
Main LKL champion Kaunas "Zalgiris" shareholder and management chairperson Mindaugas Plukas yesterday informed that he decided to retire and 42.5 per cent of "A.Sabonio Zalgirio krepsinio centras" stocks dispose to legendary Lithuanian basketball player Arvydas Sabonis. 38 year old A.Sabonis already has15 per cent of culb stocks and is going to play next season in "Zalgiris" team.

"I can't see better man, whom I could give my stocks and functions", - says M.Plukas. A.Sabonis says, that next season he will certainly play in "Zalgiris". As writes daily newspaper "Lietuvos Rytas", after M.Plukas leaves "Zalgiris", it is big possibility that former shareholder Sabtaj Kalmanovic will come back to team. (from Eurobasket.com)

A failure to communicate on Sabonis
Depending on whom you believe, Arvydas Sabonis either has decided he wants to play for the Trail Blazers next season or hasn't made up his mind about his future.

Blazers GM John Nash said Tuesday the veteran center wants to return to Portland; agent Herb Rudoy said his client remains undecided.

"He wants to play," Nash said. "He wants to play for Portland."

Eggers: Sabas' knew last season he wasn't coming back
Arvydas Sabonis knew at the end of last season that he wasn't going to be back with Portland. His wife and four children stayed in Spain during the season. He saw them only sporadically and missed them terribly.

"It is difficult to move them over here again," Sabonis told the Tribune after the Blazers' Game 7 elimination in Dallas. "It's not just one kid, it's four. I'm going to have to think about it before I decide."

In June, Sabonis was quoted in a Lithuanian newspaper as saying he wouldn't return to the NBA. Chicago-based agent Herb Rudoy insisted that the 7-3 Lithuanian hadn't made up his mind, but that may have been wishful thinking, given that Rudoy stood to lose about 300,000 in commission from his client's 7 million salary.
